Work Underway on Knowles (NM) Fire Department Station 2

The ground has been broken and work has begun on the Knowles Fire Department’s new Station 2.

The 5,729-square-foot facility will be located on a two-acre property in Lea County at 5510 W. Alabama St. It will house an engine, tanker, and at least one grass rig, the department says on Facebook.

The aim is to supplement the department’s current station near the intersection of Pinson and Highway 132, reports hobbsnews.com.

The county contracted Anissa Construction Inc. to complete the station for $2,299,900 of already-budgeted funds, the report says.
