Reading (PA) city council recently voted to award construction contracts for the city’s fire station, which will be located at 1201 N. Ninth St., across the street from its predecessor, reports wfmz.com.
The two-story station is planned to house five apparatus and will include areas for sleeping, laundry, maintenance, storage, offices, living space, restrooms, and a gym, the report says.
A $5.94 million general contractor contract was awarded to Perrotto Builders Ltd., of Reading, while deals were also struck with:
- Hirneisen Electric Inc., of Cumru Township, $1.04 million, electrical work,
- Vision Mechanical Inc., of West Reading, $646,940, plumbing work,
- Triangle Fire Protection Inc., of Carlisle, $127,900, fire protection.
