North Port (FL) Celebrates $12M Public Safety Facility

North Port (FL) recently celebrated the opening of Station 86, a $12 million public safety complex comprising a fire and police substation.

It’s the city’s sixth fire station.

The project was funded by the developer of Wellen Park, who will then be reimbursed via impact fees collected over time.

The complex is located along Tamiami Trail at the intersection of Preto Boulevard. It was built by Willis Smith Construction and designed by Plunkett Raysich Architects. Engineering work was completed by Snell Engineering Consultants, AM Engineering Inc., Kimley-Horn and Quest Design Group.

It includes a helipad; a 1,600-square-foot garage; a four-bay, double-deep, 7,000-square-foot apparatus room; and showcases the company’s vintage 1946 Seagrave fire truck.
