
Firefighter’s tanker overturned while going to a call

COOSA COUNTY, Alabama – A volunteer firefighter was killed Saturday while responding to an emergency call, according to the Opelika-Auburn News.
Michael Wayne Johnston, a firefighter with the Equality Volunteer Fire Department, was driving a tanker when the vehicle left the roadway and overturned.
The Alabama Highway Patrol told OANOW.com that Johnston was traveling on Coosa County 14 when the tanker left the road, struck an embankment, and overturned.
Johnston, 45, was ejected from the truck and later pronounced dead at the scene.
The Alabama Highway Patrol in investigating the incident.
