Scotia (NY) Considers New $12M Fire Station

A new, more spacious fire station costing in the neighborhood of $8 million would be constructed on a small parcel of land near the library, reports Times Union.

The mayor said space is so tight inside the Scotia fire station that firefighters have to park so close to the walls to fit the two pumper trucks and a ladder and a rescue truck. They are forced to enter the vehicles from the passenger side and slide into the driver’s seat to run them.

The village would pay for the projects through bonding of 30 years for the fire house and 15 years for other improvements.
