Sarasota County (FL) Emergency Services recently held the grand-opening ceremony for its new Station 13 on Siesta Key, reports patch.com.

The old station at 1170 Beach Rd. was demolished in May 2020 before ground broke for this new, two-story, 10,500-square-foot facility. It will house four or five firefighters at all times, as well as a truck, ambulance, and an ATV for beach incidents.

The new digs is modeled after Station 12 on Bee Ridge Road and Station 14 on Tamiami Trail near Vamo Road, the county said in a news release.

Some of the original brick from old Station 13 was salvaged and used in the new building for a historical touch, officials say.
