Roanoke (VA) Fire-EMS New Fire Station to Have Historic Touches

Roanoke Fire-EMS is opening a new station to replace the old building that served the community for more than 90 years, reports WXFR FOX.

The new facility includes historic components, including individual bunk rooms and bathrooms to accommodate female firefighters for long term stays. There will also be a new wash room, gym, and more space for fire trucks.

Roanoke City Council approved more than $5 million for the facility in the spring of 2019.
