Station: Sedona (AZ) Fire Department Station 6
Architect: LEA Architects
The Sedona (AZ) Fire Department’s Station 6, designed by LEA Architects, was a standout to the F.I.E.R.O. Fire Station Design Awards Jury. LEA won an “On the Boards” design award for the same project a few years back when it was still in the early design stages. While the “as built station” is a bit smaller, the quality of the design and construction remained strong and is perhaps even better. While blending adroitly with the Arizona landscape, the station still manages to “read” unmistakably as a fire station. The Jury noted the creative and careful attention paid to the use of materials on both the outside and the inside, including a number of design features in response to environmental issues.
