Palm Springs (CA) Firefighters and Police Ask for More $25 Million to Handle Downtown Arena

Palm Springs’ fire and police departments say they will need nearly $20 million for new equipment and facilities and $3.6 million annually to bolster staff to prepare for a proposed downtown arena project, reports Desert Sun.

Fire Chief Kevin Nalder said the city would need to move and rebuild Fire Station No. 1 at a cost of $12 million to $15 million in order to accommodate a new ladder truck to service the arena. The Fire Department would also need two new fire engines and nine more staff members.

In total, the request could be as high as $21,035,692, for additional staff, equipment and the rebuilt fire station.
