PRESS RELEASE

The Northmoreland Township Volunteer Fire Company, located at 1618 Demunds Road, Dallas, Pennsylvania (Wyoming County) is pleased to announce the opening of a second station on July 12, 2023, located at 329 Orange Road in the Village of Orange, Luzerne County. This station will be named “The Orange Station” and will augment the responses to calls with an additional tanker, brush truck and UTV staffed with Northmoreland firefighters.

This effort came through an Operational Partnership with the Franklin Twp. Vol. Fire Co. that was decertified in 2021. In the next few weeks, the apparatus will be rebranded, training will be completed, and alarm responses updated.

Northmoreland Fire Chief Chuck Story stated, “in a time where volunteerism is at an all-time low, our department continues to thrive and prosper. These enhancements and expansions are made possible by our dedicated membership that works hard every day to support and staff our Volunteer Fire Co. We continue to be a tax-free emergency service organization and exist solely on donations, fundraising and grants. Staffing, response times and trained firefighters are what makes a difference when an emergency occurs, couple all three of those together and being able to sustain this is truly a positive reflection of who we are. We are regularly accepting new members to assist with business and emergency response roles within our organization. We encourage residents that live in the Lockville, Carverton, Lake Louise and Orange communities to join and be part of our fire company. This joint effort with the Franklin Twp. Vol. Fire Co. will increase our delivery capabilities and allow us the opportunity to continue to grow.”

The Franklin Twp. Vol. Fire Co’s. social hall will continue to be available for rentals, parties, and special occasions.
