The ideas of a new Abilene (TX) Fire Station located on the city’s south side and a new Emergency Operations Center were recently proposed at an Abilene City Council retreat, according to a report on ReporterNews.com.

A new EOC is estimated at $2.5 million, while a new fire station could be almost $5.6 million, with up to $1 million in personnel costs, the report said.

The emergence of new businesses and “a ton of growth on the south side” are the catalysts for the potential growth.
