To accommodate the rapid growth of far west Fort Worth’s Walsh development, city officials celebrated the opening of a new fire station Tuesday, Feb. 18, fortworthreport.org reported.

The grand opening of Fire Station 43 included a short ceremony with remarks from City of Fort Worth leadership and an open house of the new state-of-the-art station.

Fire Station 43 sits on two acres of land donated to the city by the Walsh family, a prominent Fort Worth family known for its ranching empire and philanthropic contributions. The station is situated within the Walsh development, a former 7,200-acre ranch that has since transitioned into a mix of housing and commercial districts.

The $9.1 million project was funded through the city’s 2014 bond program.

The station is located at 2200 Walsh Ranch Parkway and will serve one of the most rapidly growing areas in Fort Worth, located on the west side of the city, off I-30, according to a city press release.
