A groundbreaking ceremony was held for a fire station that will replace Marco Island’s original fire station, reports Marco Eagle.
Marco Island City Hall posted to Facebook, “Today we broke ground on the Fire Rescue Station, which will be reconstructed to include a hurricane rated emergency operations center, training room, data center, and the home for our Fire Rescue personnel. Congratulations to the City Council and current and former Fire Chiefs who made this project possible. We will have a first rate facility to serve the residents and employees of the City.”
The old fire station is worn out, not built to current codes, with a host of issues. Firefighters are looking forward to a new fire station.
