The Mansfield City Council, staff, and Mansfield firefighters broke ground on the new Fire Station 1, the city said in a press release Jan. 7, 2025.

The city celebrated the start of construction on the new facility on Jan. 6. The new fire station will be near the intersection of Walnut Creek Drive and Broad Street.

The 17,860 square foot, two-story, building features four bays, advanced air quality protection for firefighters, indoor and covered outdoor training areas, 12 dorms, a watch office, and two firepoles. Fire department staff was vital to the design process for the new station and provided input that was essential to the final design, including the firepoles to allow them to jump into action. The building will be complete in spring 2026.

The new location will allow firefighters to better respond to calls in this area because of improved access to the roadways compared to the 30-year-old Fire Station 1‘s current location in Historic Downtown Mansfield.
