The Judson (TX) Fire Department is getting its own station, reports newsjournal.com, and Gregg County officials recently gathered at the corner of Hudson Lane and Tryon Road as crew members posted a banner to mark the site of the future station.
Gregg County Emergency Services District 3 purchased four acres of land for about $300,000 to build this first permanent station; the current station at 436 Skinner Ln. is leased.
The next step in bringing the station to fruition is to start the engineering process, officials say. They add that the estimated cost for the station will be about $1.5 million.
The Judson Fire Department was founded as a volunteer department in 2004 and was donation-funded until May 2019, when voters approved a new tax to support fire protection in their neighborhoods—creating Gregg County’s third emergency services district.
