Hamden (CT) to Replace 100-Year-Old Station for $8.6M

Tuesday was a “very big day” in the history of the Hamden Fire Department, as city officials agreed to issue $8.6 million in bonds to replace Station 2, one of the city’s oldest fire stations.

The project will replace the 100-year-old Dixwell Avenue facility with a new one on Putnam Avenue, reports fox61.com. The current facility violates numerous safety and accessibility standards.

The money will fund upgrades in a pre-fabricated station, which has already been acquired by the town, the report notes.
