City of Decatur (IL) Selling Retired Fire Station 3

The City of Decatur is accepting proposals for the sale of the recently retired Decatur Fire Station #3 located at 1308 W. Eldorado St. in Decatur, IL.  Proposals will be accepted now through December 3rd via email to or by hard copy delivered to the Decatur City Manager’s Office.

The property is highly visible, at a lighted intersection, across the street from commercial businesses.  The property is 18,000 square feet with a 3,483 square foot brick building.  The facility though originally constructed in 1926, has been well maintained as a Decatur Fire Station until last month.  More information about the property and building can be found here.

The City will provide two open house opportunities for interested parties to see the interior of this unique property, the first on Nov. 22 from 7-9 am and a second on December 1, 4-6 pm. Prospective buyers should provide an offer price (suggested minimum of $100K) along with a description of what they intend to do with the property both in the near term and longer term. The City intends to sell the property to those who have the best plan for the property which meets the needs of this neighborhood and the community as a whole.
