Chula Vista (CA) to Spend $16 Million for Two Fire Stations

Chula Vista is getting two new fire stations in 2021, reports San Diego Tribune.

The City Council unanimously approved paying $16.6 million to a construction firm. The existing stations were built more than 60 years ago.

The fire stations have had problems with mold, asbestos, leaky roofs, sewage clogs, rodents and termites. The stations’ open-dorm layout mean that firefighters, male and female, have little to no privacy.

Relocating the fire stations is expected to improve response times.
