PRESS RELEASE

CHANDLER, Arizona – The Chandler Fire Department is holding a free open house for the public from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024 at the newly-constructed Fire Station No. 2.

When Chandler’s Fire Station No. 2 first opened in 1986, about 15,000 people lived in the area it served. That number has climbed to 50,000 today, chandlernews.com reported.

Chandler residents approved the expansion in the 2021 bond election and construction for the nearly $6 million upgrade started in August 2022, according to chandlernews.com.

Fire Station No. 2 was built in stages at the site while the previous station was still in operation. The new station will provide four vehicle bays for fire apparatus and will have space for a second engine company to increase the capacity to respond to the high call volume in this area.

The open house is a unique opportunity for the public to see the new station and learn about services provided by the Chandler Fire Department, including safety, fire prevention and emergency preparedness.

In addition to tours of the station there will be fire trucks, ambulance, apparatus displays and demonstrations of emergency medical services. Blood pressure checks will be available, along with drowning prevention information. In the Fire Safety House display, children will get hands-on instruction on how to get out of a smoke-filled environment. Free balloons and fire helmets will be available for children.

This open house will also feature instruction on Hands-Only CPR, which when performed by a bystander has been shown to be as effective as “conventional” CPR in emergencies that occur at home, work or in public. There are only two steps to remember: call 911 and push hard and fast in the center of the chest.

Fire Station No. 2 is located at 1911 N. Alma School Road, between Warner and Ray roads. For more information about the open house, please call 480-782-2120 or visit Chandler Fire.
