Center Point Washington Township Fire Department (IA) Raising Funds for Fire Station

Center Point Washington Township Fire Department is raising funds to cover the remaining $235,000 for their new fire station, reports CBS 2 Iowa.

The ballot initiative of $2 million for the project was passed in November 2019 with the remaining $700,000 to be raised through fundraising.

The current fire station was built in 1950 and had additions in the 1960s and 1970s. Ground has been broken at the new station’s location and is expected to provide excellent support for volunteer firefighters.

Local grants that would normally be available for projects were diverted in 2020 to support COVID-19 relief.
