A station near downtown Nashville, Tennessee, was expected to close on December 6, 2019. Department representatives cite building and mechanical issues as reasons for closing the station.
The Nashville (TN) Fire Department operates 40 stations throughout the county, so units at the department’s Station 2 will be moved to two other stations.
Station 2 is one of the oldest stations still in use in Nashville and was built in 1974. The department is working with the Department of General Services and Mayor John Cooper’s office to build a new Station 2.
