The new facility will be constructed at 300 East 42nd St.
Davenport is expected to start accepting construction bids this week, officials say, with the contract most likely being awarded in a month or so. Without any setbacks, a groundbreaking could be held in July. After that, construction should take about 12 to 14 months for completion.
The current station was built more than a half-century ago and lies in the Duck Creek flood plain.
