|Casella is introducing a new two-ounce product that measures noise exposure. About the size of a flip phone, the CEL-350 dBadge micro noise dosimeter measures an employee’s noise exposure over the workday, revealing danger areas.|
The dBadge does not compromise performance for size, according to Bob Selwyn, the company’s vice president of sales. “We’ve engineered the dBadge with a built-in display, cable-free architecture, measurement of both OSHA and ISO parameters and faster battery recharging,” he said. A bright LED, flashing at different rates for different noise levels, indicates when safety levels are exceeded.
The dBadge is attachable to clothing or hardhat, auto-calibrates, and requires no external equipment. The unit captures a time history for noise events, logged in one-minute values for later analysis. The 64kB memory stores up to 180 data hours while the battery pack runs up to 32 hours. Engineered for industrial wear, the dBadge is made with some of the same material used in automobile bumpers.
The starting price of the kit with accessories is $2,700.
