Canadian City Expects New Trucks Next Year

 Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada

The city council in Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada, approved a request by Fire Chief Tony Delmonico to buy three new fire trucks from Safetek Emergency Vehicles Ltd.according to a report from BC Local News.

Safetek
built six vehicles for the department over the past decade. The trucks are expected to be delivered to the city department next year, but as previous equipment, will be purchased through open tender and sole sourcing processes.

The report stated that many North American cities are standardizing their vehicles and equipment to ensure consistency of fire apparatus, according to Delmonico. He was quoted to say, “It’s especially important when you have firefighters working in the middle of the night. All the pump panels need to be the same and so do the truck operations. When it comes down to seconds for saving lives, it’s worth it.”
