A Marco Mertz by Unruh Fire Unit on a Polaris Ranger

Unruh Fire has acquired the Mertz Fire Apparatus line of fast-attack firefighting equipment.

The Mertz fire apparatus line was founded in 1984 by Marvin Johns who marketed skid pump units under the name Marco. The high pressure, low volume units are known for conserving water. They are designed for wildland as well as municipal fire departments and are described as very economical.

“We are proud to associate ourselves with two outstanding names in the fire industry by calling our new division Marco-Mertz by Unruh Fire,” said Unruh President Steve Brown. “These skid pump units will continue to be manufactured to the same high standards of production that Unruh Fire is known for.

He said his company built its reputation on designing fire equipment with firefighters in mind. “Many of our top people, from management to production, are current and former firefighters,” he said. “Each one takes a real stake in producing and developing equipment that is of the highest quality in both usability and safety.”
