A fire inside a semi-trailer traveling along a Tennessee highway burned through surgical gowns and N95 masks, reports New York Daily News.
The truck went up in flames around 5 a.m. on Saturday after the rear wheel sparked. Officials said it took firefighters from four different departments as well as deputies from the sheriff’s office to contain the fire.
Surgical gowns and N95 masks tightly packed inside the truck’s trailer did not survive the fire. Crews spent the remainder of the weekend cleaning up debris left by the truck and hauling all of its contents — desperately needed amid the coronavirus outbreak — to a nearby landfill.
