The Wyse Fork (NC) Fire Department (WFFD) recently broke ground at 1155 Neuse Rd. in Kinston for its second station, reports neusenews.com.

This second station aims to enable WFFD to have a faster response time to the neighboring area, and the hope is to have it finished by hurricane season.

As of now, firefighters that live in that area must travel approximately 2.5 miles to the station before bringing the necessary equipment back to the affected area.
