Vote Will Decide Fate of South Shore Fire Stations

The Chelan Fire District Board (WA) voted unanimously to place a lid-lift levy on the November ballot that would finance construction of two South Shore stations.

If approved by voters, an additional $54 to annual property tax on a home with assessed value of $300,000 in perpetuity would bed added. District property owners currently pay 98 cents per $1,000. The total annual property tax would increase to $348 a year.

Fire Chief Tim Lemon vetted the cost of the new stations and additional tax and protection to property owes before presenting the measure.
