PA Assistant Chief Dies Following Multiple Calls

Assistant Chief Stephen Michael Pavetti, 58, of Kiski Township Fire Department #1 in Apollo was found dead on Thursday, November 21, 2024 after suffering a cardiac event.

His death followed a series of strenuous calls the day prior, including multiple calls for trees and wires down, with the last call at 8:03 p.m., the U.S. Fire Administration reports.

After the calls were completed, Assistant Chief Pavetti and others from the department returned to the station, cleaned the apparatus, and put it back in service. They then shared dinner together at the station.

At 3:30 p.m. the next day Pavetti was found unresponsive at his home where he was pronounced dead. Pavetti served the department for 18 years.
