Oregon Department Chooses Preowned Pumper

The Thomas Creek West Side (OR) Rural Fire Protection District was looking to upgrade its fleet. Its options were to try to get a grant, meaning it would have to get a new truck, or purchase a preowned vehicle. Ultimately, the department decided to purchase a preowned rig: a 1997 Pierce Lance pumper from the Hillcrest Fire Company, Orchard Park, New York.

The new truck will replace one that has been in service since the 1980s. The new pumper will feature on-spot chains, a deck gun, LED lights, a hydraulic ladder rack, and more storage room than its previous truck. It will also carry extrication equipment.
