New Jersey Committee Formed to Standardize Equipment

Area New Jersey fire departments hope to standardize equipment, as well as fire training in order to reduce costs, reports the Town Journal.

The committee hopes to cut down on the cost that local fire departments spend on equipment, because “every department has its own menu of how to build a fire truck, which gets each municipality close to a million dollars for a piece of equipment,” said Saddle River Mayor Samuel Raia.

The other goal is to standardize training so that equipment becomes interchangeable and departments could practice drills together.
