NC Firefighter/EMT Killed in Crash Responding to Accident

New London Volunteer Firefighter Chris Rothmeyer, 27, was killed in a single-vehicle accident Wednesday responding to call for an automobile accident.

The accident happened on NC 8 near Baldwin Road, Stanley News & Press reports.

The New London Volunteer Fire Department, Richfield-Misenheimer Volunteer Fire Department, and Stanly County EMS responded to the scene. First responders provided medical assistance and transported Rothmeyer to Atrium Stanly Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Rothmeyer’s service began in 2016 shortly after high school and he had worked or volunteered for Stanly County EMS, Davidson County EMS, Bethany Community Volunteer Fire Department as well as New London Volunteer Fire Department.
