Montgomery County (MD) Firefighter Dies After House Fire

3:15 p.m.: The firefighter who passed away has been identified as Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service Master Firefighter Christopher Higgins, WTOP reports.

Original post: A Montgomery County (MD) firefighter collapsed and died following a house fire Saturday, according to reports.

According to NBC Washington, the firefighter, 46, a 22-year veteran of the department, was responding to a house fire in Laurel when he collapsed and was transported. He later succumbed to his injuries.

Montgomery County companies were providing mutual aid to Prince George’s County firefighters during the fire on January 11, 2025, on Bradford Lane.
