Milford Needs Financing for Fire Truck Purchase

The Milford Fire Department wants to replace an old, outdated fire engine and is asking voters to spend $450,000 to do so.

Engine Number 5 is one of the department’s four fire trucks. Its next oldest truck was purchased in 2001. That truck has been out of service for the past two weeks while the department makes about $5,000 worth of repairs to its suspension and steering.

The town last purchased a fire engine in 2007 for around $400,000. But one truck around a decade ago fell out of commission earlier than expected, which is why the department is purchasing a new truck only five years apart.
