The Metcalfe County (KY) Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle injury collision east of Summer Shade, KY, and found a Summer Shade (KY) Fire Department 2008 GMC 5500 Series fire apparatus responding. The rig yielded to another responding unit, but as the driver yielded, the passenger side tires of the GMC dropped off the northbound shoulder. Attempting to steer back on the roadway, the driver caused the vehicle to overcorrect. The rig crossed both lanes and went off the roadway, overturning.

The diver of the fire department vehicle and passenger were taken to the hospital where they were treated for their injuries. Both occupants of the vehicle were wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident.
