City officials are poised to spend nearly $500,000 over seven years for a new fire truck.
Jackson City Council is scheduled to meet July 14. Included on the night’s agenda is the purchase of a new pump truck for the fire department after the department’s #3 truck was decommissioned earlier this year.
The fire truck, manufactured by Pierce Manufacturing, Inc., will cost $459,492.
“The city has owned Pierce fire apparatuses for nearly 30 years and has been extremely satisfied with their longevity and functionality,” Police and Fire Director Matthew Heins said in a memo to city officials. “Our mechanic is familiar with the equipment and some spare parts are already on hand.”
Money for the fire truck will come from the city’s general fund, city documents show.
