Mooresville fire officials are relieved to have money in place for a centrally located, new fire fire station, reports FireNews.net.
Station 5 will be built in the geographic center of town. Commissioners awarded a $1.86 million construction contract last week. The new facility will join four other MFD stations.
The new station’s location will also help the fire department meet the goal of achieving a five-minute response 90% of the time.
The new station will be the primary home for the department’s tower truck and the battalion chief. The tower truck is currently at Station 2.
