Buckeye (AZ) Fire Department had Perlman Architects of Arizona design this two story brick fire station that gave the gated community a small-town feel. (All photos by James L. Christy, courtesy of Buckeye Fire Department.)
Perlman Architects designed Buckeye's Station 3 with four drive-through apparatus bays, three double deep, and one 1.75 deep for a battalion chief's vehicle.
The design of Buckeye Station 3 earned a LEED Gold designation because of its energy efficiency, use of local building materials, an efficient building envelope, low use water fixtures, and photovoltaic covered parking.
Perlman Architects was faced with a challenging site for Buckeye Station 3, less than two acres with a curved triangular shape, but the firm was able to design a two-story station that fit neatly into the space.
