SCI Makes 30 Year Cylinder For SCBA

Structural Composites Industries (SCI) said it has launched new SCBA cylinder technology: the only 30-year cylinder available for sale directly to fire departments in the United States.

Until now, the company said, the longest cylinder service life was 15 years.

Available in a 45-minute, 4,500-psi configuration, the DOT-approved composite SCBA cylinder features improved abrasion resistance, five-year hydrostatic testing and custom labeling capability.

In 1976, SCI became the world’s first producer of DOT-approved composite cylinders for municipal, commercial, military, marine and aerospace applications. SCI continues to supply SCBA cylinders to virtually all industries where life support is paramount.
