Waterway Expands With Illinois, Florida And Texas Franchises

Waterway, which describes itself as the country’s largest fire hose and ladder testing company, has appointed new franchisees in Illinois, Florida and Texas.

Tom Foley, the new franchisee in Illinois, is a firefighter/

paramedic with the Palos Fire Protection District. “Their equipment, systems and rigorous on-site discipline coupled with a real desire to service fire departments as effectively as possible is what they care about,” he said of Waterway.

In Florida, Waterway will be based in Sebring at a franchise owned and run by Greg Stephens, who expects to service the central and southern part of the state. “Our team will be able to service the annual [National Fire Protection Association] testing needs of the Florida fire departments without those departments having to supply any personnel of their own,” he said.

Waterway, a 20-year-old company based in New Jersey, started offering franchises to firefighters three years ago and had opened 17 before announcing the recent three.

The new Texas franchise is based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and is being run by two career firefighters, Bryant Askew of the Plano Fire Department and Jensen Tyre of the Flower Mound Fire Department. “Waterway is by far the most advanced testing company in the USA,” said Askew. “It has an ISO certification and a system second to none.”
