American LaFrance LLC recently hired several executives, among them former Toyota manager Phil Duncan to assume the role of chief operating officer.
Other appointments include Kevin Hyde, a former Pierce Manufacturing manager who was named vice president for American LaFrance’s Fire Division, and industry veteran Bill Landreth, who was hired as vice president of ALF’s Aftermarket Division.
Duncan joins American LaFrance with 13 years of experience at Toyota North America and more than 25 years of automotive experience. He began his career at General Motors, followed by management positions with TRW.
“Phil Duncan has an extensive background in one of the most advanced product development and manufacturing systems in the world,” said American LaFrance President and CEO Torben von Staden.
As COO, Duncan oversees production, quality, supply chain and engineering for American LaFrance’s fire apparatus, vocational truck and military vehicle product lines at all manufacturing facilities.
Hyde, following a two-year absence from the fire industry, is responsible for overall management of ALF’s fire and rescue business. Until June 2008, he was vice president and general manager for Pierce Manufacturing’s Bradenton operation, where he led two key business units.
“His excellent leadership qualities will help return American LaFrance to a position of strength in the fire industry,” von Staden said.
Landreth spent 36 years at Freightliner LLC and Daimler Trucks North America LLC before joining American LaFrance to head its Aftermarket Division.
“Upgrading parts and service support to our customers is critical to honoring our heritage and achieving our mission,” von Staden said.
