Wintersville Fire and Rescue Purchases New Equipment

Wintersville Fire and Rescue is going to purchase three new fire trucks.

The department had three trucks — a ladder truck, fire engine and attack pumper — that were nearing the end of the 10-year cycle.

Wintersville was looking to replace the attack pumper but the opportunity to replace more trucks suddenly started to fall in place.

Manufacturers of new fire trucks were finding the market difficult because so many communities across the country were feeling the impact of the recession.

The department hired a broker to sell two trucks and a broker assisted the department in selling the third truck. The attack truck went to a department in Texas, the ladder truck went to Pennsylvania and the engine truck was sold to a department near Canton.

The three existing trucks were sold for $590,000. All three deals were done in less than 120 days.
