A semi tractor-trailer crashed through an accident scene on westbound I-40 near mile marker 24 in Arlington, Tennessee early Friday morning, Arlington Fire Fighters Association Local 4218 reported on Facebook.
The tractor-trailer struck Arlington Brush Truck 72, which was being used as a blocker at the earlier accident scene, pushing it and flipping it onto Arlington Engine 72. The semi jack-knifed and came to rest against Shelby County Fire Ambulance 71.
The cab of the semi tore loose from the frame and landed on its side next to the ambulance. The semi narrowly missed all personnel on the scene, which included Tennessee Highway Patrol and Shelby County Sheriff agency vehicles.
Arlington Fire crews and Shelby County Sheriff Deputies extricated the semi driver and transported the driver to a local hospital. No fire personnel were injured during this accident.
Arlington will not have brush truck response capabilities until the truck is replaced. Immediately following the accident, Engine 72 crews swapped into our Reserve Snorkel and are fully mission capable.
