The Colorado Springs Fire Department put Brush 24 into service Monday, Feb. 3, to cover Station 24’s district while the station is still under construction, the department said in a Facebook post.
Station 24 is currently being built at New Life Drive and Interquest on the north side of the city. Due to the heightened number of calls in the area and to best serve the community, the department put an additional resource in place to respond to calls faster.
Brush 24 is a smaller truck, typically used for wildland and brush fires. It is staffed with a paramedic and Lieutenant and will run out of Pikes Peak State College – Rampart Range Campus during the day and Station 22 at night. This unit will respond to medical calls, structure and wildland fires, traffic accidents, and other calls for service.
“Your safety is of upmost importance to us which is why this apparatus was important to add until our station is finished,” the post said. “Your level of care will be the same, but the apparatus responding will look a little different.”
