WATCH | Jacksonville (FL) FD Goes Defensive After Fire Gets Into Attic

The Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department responded to a mid-morning house fire with heavy fire showing upon arrival, the department said in a social media post Dec. 5. The fire was billowing out of the garage and rolling from the eaves. This fire had quickly advanced into the large attic space. From there, crews were unable to get ahead of it quick enough as modern day truss members began collapsing, so crews were pulled out of the structure and a defensive posture was assumed.

The cause of the fire was a vehicle in the garage. A good Samaritan neighbor attempted to extinguish the car fire with a garden hose, but was unsuccessful.

No injuries were reported at this fire.
