A recommendation by the Wahpeton Public Works Committee to sell one of the fire department’s trucks was approved.
The recommendation came after a bid from the Dwight Rural Fire Department was received to purchase the city’s 1990 Ford L8000 fire truck for $42,600.
Don Bajumpaa, chair of the Public Works Committee, explained the funds from the sale of the 1990 vehicle will be used toward purchasing a new fire truck for the Wahpeton Fire Department.
The department had originally ordered the new fire truck in August and Finance Director Darcie Huwe said the city has budgeted additional funds to purchase and equip the new vehicle. The motion to approve the recommendation came with the contingency to wait until the city has the new truck before delivering the older vehicle to Dwight.
