The Valdosta (GA) Fire Department will shave time off the wait period for a new fire truck by buying a demonstrator unit from Sutphen Corp., according a report published by Valdosta Daily Times.

According to the report, Valdosta has an immediate need for a new truck and the current supply chain issues made the demonstrator unit, already in production, an attractive choice.

The new demonstrator will be completed in about eight months rather than 22 months for something custom-built for the department, according to the report.

The new truck cost $724,990, according to the report.
