Vacaville Welcomes New Engine

The Vacaville Fire Department has welcomed a new member to its fleet of fire apparatus.

The Type 1 engine comes to the city as a loaner with a single condition: The department has to supply a four-person crew to man the engine in the event that the state should call.
The engine is a welcome upgrade from the department’s oldest engine, which came to the city in 1988.

The apparatus also serves as a Type 3 rescue engine, fully equipped with pry bars, saws, hammers, screws, nails and any other tools or equipment that could be needed in a rescue situation.

The Cal EMA Fire and Rescue Division works with federal, state and local agencies to provide emergency assistance, and its roots can be traced back to the early ’40s and the enactment of the War Powers Act.
