United Plastic Fabricating Inc. delivered 15 foam trailers to Massachusetts for response to ethanol-type flammable liquid incidents.
The foam trailers, purchased with Homeland Security grant money, were ordered by fire departments through regional associations in the southeastern and western parts of the state.

Each trailer carries 500 gallons of AR-AFFF foam concentrate and has two 200-foot, 120-gpm 1-3/4-inch foam handlines and a 300-foot, 250-gpm 2-1/2-inch foam handline. They also have monitors equipped with a 500-gpm foam nozzle with remote proportioning device and a ground base.
The trailers feature 35-gpm rotary gear concentrate pumps for on-loading or off-loading concentrate and preconnected 100-foot transfer hoses. They are also equipped with 2,000-watt generators and 500-watt pre-connected floodlights.
UPF said trailers of this type have been used successfully at tank fires, tanker rollovers, fuel spills, industrial fires, boat fires, junkyard fires, electrical transformer fires and plane crashes.
