Unity (ME) Fire Department Raising Money to Replace 1980 American LaFrance Ladder Truck

The Unity (ME) Fire Department is raising money to replace its 1980 American LaFrance ladder truck, reports waldo.villagesoup.com.

During an emergency call on July 4, 2019, the apparatus blew a radiator hose and repairs don’t make fiscal sense, the report says. The department bought the truck in 2009 from the Hamilton (MA) Fire Department for $5,000.

A new truck could range anywhere between $950,000 to $1.3 million. The report notes fire officials have also been researching used trucks in the $25,000-to-$50,000 ballpark.
